Our Research:

Researches in Dr. Guo's group are in the area of nanostructure plasmon photonics and metamaterials. The major thrust of the research activities is to explore new metal-dielectric-semiconductor plasmonic nanostructures to engineer and control plasmon-polaritons in the mesoscopic nanoscale, a scale between the atomic scale and the diffraction limit of light. Current research projects are:
  • Gap plasmon resonance perfect light absorbers;
  • Perfect light trapping in metal surface nanotrench cavities;
  • Super-period plasmonic nanostructure gratings and integrated plasmon enhanced spectrometry and sensing;
  • Ultra-thin film Si-metal optics for color filters;
  • Metamaterials for solar energy harvesting and anti-reflection coatings.
